SGE Syringe Cleaner

host peaks or cross contamination can be caused by
a "dirty" needle.
The SGE syringe cleaner ensures organic sample residues
are completely vaporized out of the needle and is particularly
useful for type B plunger-in-needle syringes.
A feature of the unit is that it has a very short warm-up peri-
od of approximately 30 seconds to reach the operating tempera-
ture of 250°C. Effectively, this means the unit does not have to
be always switched on although it is thermostatically controlled
for continuous use if required.
A vacuum source of approximately 10 Torr from a water pump
or mechanical pump should be connected to the unit.
Operation is simple. Insert the needle through the 10mm
septum into the heated zone, hold for about 30 seconds and then
pump the plunger a few times. Organics are vaporized and
pumped away from the needle, leaving it clean and free from con-
taminant’s.
The cleaner will accept needles up to 1mm OD and 100mm
long.
Solid Injectors
Two interchangeable plungers are supplied with each injec-
tor. One plunger, which has a spiral tip, is used for injection of
solids. The sample is deposited on the spiral with a syringe, the
solvent evaporated and the residual solid then injected into the
GC.
The other flat tipped plunger is for solid samples in the form
of granules, fibers or powders which can be packed into the bore
of the needle with the plunger retracted. Alternatively, samples
can be bored out with the sharp needle tip, e.g. plastic sheeting,
paper, foil and so on.
Pelletizer
The device is for producing micro-pellets which can be trans-
ferred into the bore of an SGE solid injector.
Stylet Wires
These are for cleaning Type A needles and are also ideal for
cleaning recorder pens and so on. Four sizes are offered: 0.10,
0.15, 0.20 and 0.25mm.
Syringe Rack
It helps to organize your syringes and minimize breakages.
SGE Needle Cleaning Kit
This kit provides the necessary items used to clean blocked
needles in all Type A syringe needles.
A range of stylet wires, tweezers for holding these and a non-
ionic surfactant material are provided in a convenient size pack-
et.
The kit can also be used to clean out ink reservoir recorder
pens.
