-
Column flow rates up to 5 ml/min.
T
he COMTRAP Cryo-Trap was designed to operate inside the GC oven for trapping of volatiles at the front of the GC column
much like previous models of the Cryo-Traps that SIS has produced in the past five years. The Cryo-Trap consists of a 2.0" long
heating/cooling chamber. In the center of the chamber is a stainless steel capillary through which the capillary column freely
passes. Around the stainless steel capillary tube a heating coil is wound to provide for the rapid heating of the capillary tube and capillary
column. A thermocouple provides accurate measurement of both the cooling and heating temperatures.
The same COMTRAP can be used with either CO2 or LN2. There is no need to purchase separate traps or electronics controllers.
Just select the appropriate valve (CO2 or LN2) kit below depending on the cooling gas you will be using, or if you prefer purchase both
valves to enable the use of the COMTRAP with both types of gases. CO2 will allow cooling down to -70C and LN2 will allow cooling down
to -180C. The software will detect the type of valve that is plugged into the controller and control its operation automatically.
The COMTRAP is controlled and operated via the PC software that is incorporated into either Agilent ChemStation or Thermo's
Xcalibur data system. This allows the user to incorporate the Cryo-Trap method directly into the GC method. A temperature trace will be
shown tracking the current run.
