Desorption Tube Injection Head for S.I.S. Thermal Desorption Tubes

This new Desorption Tube Injection Head works much like the injection port on a Gas Chromatograph. This device is used to inject or load liquid samples directly into the S.I.S. Thermal Desorption Tubes, forcing the syringe contents onto the adsorbent resins in the desorption tube without any loss of sample due to back evaporation. This technique can be used to quantitatively inject the standards onto the adsorbent trap without any sample loss. In addition the solvents used for injection can be purged from the adsorbent resins by continued purging with the carrier gas. Constructed of stainless steel, the entire purge head can be baked out in an oven to thoroughly clean and remove contaminants.

The Desorption Tube Injection Head consists of a septum nut with septum for the introduction of the syringe needle and sample. A purge gas (carrier gas) flushes around the syringe needle purging any sample thereon to be carried onto the desorption tube resins. The S.I.S. desorption tube screws into the Desorption Tube Injection Head and a seal is made via the standard 1/4" PTFE Seal. The purge gas fitting consists of a standard 1/16" Swagelok fitting. The Desorption Tube Injection Head Body is 0.5" in diameter and is designed to clamp into the same ring clamp used for the S.I.S. Sample Purge Head and can be mounted on the Sample Purge System ringstand or other suitable stand.

Injecting samples and internal standards onto adsorbent resins using the Direct Injection Adaptor assures that all of the sample is delivered to the adsorbent resin bed.
