he new Purge and Trap System consists of two single-ball rotameters
with adjustable needle valve mounted on a nylon plastic base with an 18"
long mounting rod support. The stainless steel purging head mounts onto
the support rod via an adjustable mounting clamp. The two inch diameter plastic
safety shield surrounds the glass sampling vial for visibility of the sample being
purged while providing additional safety during sample purging. An
additional stainless steel purge head, clamp, support rod, and safety
shield can be added to the other side of the system base to permit the
purging of two samples simultaneously.
The stainless steel purging head has two gas inlets. The top gas inlet
incorporates a needle adapter to seal the replaceable purging needle and
also provides for the introduction of the purging gas. The second gas inlet pro-
vides for an optional dry purge gas (or make up gas) to aid in removing water from
wet samples. If not required this dry purge gas connector is fitted with a 1/16" Swagelok
cap seal to seal off this line. The bottom fitting of the stainless steel purging head consists
of a 1/2" Swagelok fitting with a PTFE ferrule for the attachment of standard 1/2"
diameter sampling tubes.
The Complete Purge and Trap System consists
of the rotameters with adjustable needle valves
mounted on the nylon base, one 18" mounting rod,
one mounting clamp, one standard stainless steel
liquid purge head, one sparging needle, one 5ml
sample tube, one plastic safety shield, one
stainless steel cap with hole and PEEKŪ tubing for
gas connection lines.
The Flowmeter Stand consists of the two
single-ball rotameters with adjustable needle valve
mounted on the plastic base and one support rod.
To expand the system for an additional liquid sampling head,
accessories including a support rod, stainless steel purging head, plastic safety shield and
peek tubing are also available as listed on this and succeeding pages. Optional acces-
sories include heater blankets and temperature controllers for the controlled heating of
samples and digital mass flowmeters for the accurate measurement of system flows. It is
recommended that this system be used in conjunction with a temperature controlled water
bath.
