Scientific Instrument Services can provide a wide array of ceramic tubes and insulators for use in mass spectrometers and other scientific instruments. Most of the ceramic insulators described in the following sections are constructed from high purity alumina ceramic. They have machined to very close tolerances as noted. The following insulators are in stock for immediate delivery.
If the ceramic insulator you require is not listed in these pages, it can be custom ordered from S.I.S. Just write us or preferably send us a FAX (908-806-6631) with the dimensions of the ceramic insulator you require and we will quote on it. Normal delivery for custom insulators is 8 to 12 weeks. In addition to high purity alumina ceramic, we can also fabricate insulators out of Macor ceramics and Vespel insulating materials. These softer materials are easier to machine, are less expensive and can normally be delivered to you in two to three weeks.
The following alumina ceramic tube type insulators are available in six inch lengths. The tubes are constructed of a pure 99% alumina ceramic that has superior gas and vacuum tightness and excellent insulating properties even at elevated temperatures. They are recommended for use in mass spectrometers and other vacuum systems as feed through lines, thermocouple insulators, and in other applications requiring electrical and thermal insulators. Four types are available - one hole, two hole, four hole insulator tubes, and solid rods. Other sizes available on request. Tolerances on all diameters are ±0.005"
