Alcatel Pump Oil Mist Eliminator
W
hen vacuum pumps are first turned on they usually
emit a considerable quantity of oil vapors into the air.
This oil mist not only contains oil but it also contains
any contaminants that were in the oil within the pump. The oil mist
eliminators trap this oil mist before it is expelled into the air, traps
it within the filter and then returns the oil back to the pump.
The oil mist eliminator also becomes very useful if the vacu-
um pump is out-gassed by means of the gas ballast valve. Again
the oil mist will be trapped and the oil returned to the pump. By pre-
venting the oil mists from contaminating the laboratory air, the risk
of head crashes on computer disc systems can be reduced. In
addition they provide a healthier environment within the laborato-
ry.
The oil mist eliminator contains a paper filter which traps the oil
mist allowing it to condense and return to the oil pump. lt also
incorporates a safety valve to prevent pressure buildup in the
pump when pumping vapors capable of clogging the cartridge. In
some cases of very heavy use, it may be desirable to exhaust the
pumped gases to a fume duct or charcoal filter. For such applica-
tions, the oil mist eliminator is fitted with a hose nipple to which an
exhaust hose or charcoal filter could be attached.
Part no. 66827 incorporates a NW 25 flange (O.D. - 1.5")
which enables this unit to be clamped onto the exhaust port on the
newer model Alcatel Pump Models UM2005, UM2010, UM2015.
This model comes with an offset elbow, the use of which is
optional.

ist filters capture oil mist from the outlet of pumps,
which would otherwise be ejected into the atmos-
phere. This may happen when you use gas ballast or
when you pump high gas throughputs. You can also return oil
trapped in the mist filter back to the pump, although you must
ensure that the process gases will not contaminate the pump or
pump oil.

Use of optional oil return kits results in reduced oil level
maintenance and savings in pump oil.

If the oil element becomes blocked, and integral pressure
relief valve opens.
EMF Filters -
the EMF3, EMF10, and EMF20 mist filters are
suitable for all small rotary vane pumps up to E2M18. They are
very efficient at 99.999% DOP test and are also azide proof. the
white bottom half of the body is semi-transparent, allowing the oil
level to be monitored. The EMF filters have a unique odor element
which neutralizes the smell of oil mist.
MF30 Filter -
the MF30 is suitable for E2M28 pumps. it is very
efficient at 99.98% DOP test. You can monitor the oil level through
the sight-glass provided.
Oil Return Kits -
these conserve the pump oil, by returning the
oil trapped in the mist filter to the pump
