he use of a short length of deactivated
capillary column (a retention gap) before
the analytical column enables:

•

Protection of the analytical column by

retaining contamination compounds on a replaceable
guard column.

•

Improved peak resolution and shape by

enhancing the ‘solvent effect’.

•

Cryogenic cold trapping with columns having a

stationary phase with a high minimum temperature
limit.

•

On-column injection onto narrow bore high

resolution column such as a 0.15 or 0.22mm ID col-
umn by using a 0.32mm or 0.53mm retention gap.

The kit consists of a two meter length of deacti-

vated capillary tubing and an MVSU union designed
to provide low dead volume connection of the reten-
tion gap to the column

GE’s inert glass lined FID and NPD jets for Agilent Technologies gas chromatographs
eliminate sample contact with metal, enabling non-critical positioning of the capillary col-
umn in the jet. The SGE jets are directly interchangeable with all existing jets in HP Model

5890, 5710/30/90A and 5830/40A
that use a 65mm long jet.

Varian and Antek Flame Jets

High purity, inert fused silica

flame jets enable replacement of
existing ceramic and metal jets,
effectively eliminating the jet as a
source of activity and peak tailing.
The FJKV kit is suitable for use in
Varian Model 3700, 3400, 3300 and
Vista series, 3500 and 3600 gas
chromatographs. The FJKA kit is
suitable for use with all current Aotek
Models.

Flame Jet kits come complete

with the flame jet, ferrule and thrust
washers.
