ShearMax™ Homogenizers

Overview FAQ Purchase

Homogenization in the palm of your hand!

ShearMax™ rotor-stator homogenizers help you quickly and easily homogenize tissue and lyse cells. Ideal for low throughput applications, the ShearMax allows rapid processing of single samples in as little as 15 seconds!

The ShearMax line of homogenizers are an affordable, convenient way to improve your sample preparation, both in quality and speed. Simply slide the desired homogenizer probe into the ShearMax unit and you are ready to homogenize.

Homogenize your Samples - FAST!

With the ShearMax's special Force Action Shearing Technology™, you can fully homogenize small samples in as little as 15 seconds. Furthermore, the power behind the FAST system allows you to efficiently homogenize samples up to one liter in volume with the ShearMax™ 100, or up to five liters in volume with the SearMaxe™ 150.

Any Size, Any Container

The ShearMax can homogenize samples as small as 30µl in volume, and up to one liter (with the 100) or five liters (with the 150) in volume. There is no need to use special tubes or vials - with the ShearMax you can homogenize in just about any container! Beakers, flasks, centrifuge tubes, microcentrifuge tubes, transport tubes, bottles, culture bottles / roller bottles - with a ShearMax you can homogenize in just about any container you can think of.

Homogenize Tissue or Cells

The ShearMax is great for homogenizing small or large volumes of cell culture, and can also homogenize most tissues. The Force Action Shearing Technology™ allows the ShearMax to both rip apart tissue and lyse cells.

Improved Yields

Automating your homogenization with the ShearMax can dramatically reduce your variability, and the power behind the FAST technology will ensure that you get improved yields. RNA, DNA, proteins, small molecules or metabolites, all can be simply and efficiently recovered with a ShearMax™.

Force Action Shearing Technology™

All ShearMax handheld rotor-stator homogenizers are equipped with Force Action Tecnology™ to maximize shear and provide you with top quality homogenization.

Probe Selection

There are multiple types of probes to use with the ShearMax homogenizers. When choosing a probe, the primary things you want to consider are the container you wish to homogenize in and the liquid level or volume of the sample. Wider probes will create more shearing forces and homogenize samples faster - ideally the probe will be almost as wide as the container. Longer probes allow you to reach deeper into the sample. For ideal homogenization, the probe will need to reach slightly more than halfway into the liquid. Lastly, to protect the probe and ensure proper homogenization, probes with a length of 120 mm or greater should only be used when the liquid level reaches halfway up the shaft of the homogenization probe.
