Glass Frits for Jet SeparatorsEliminate Clogged Jets on Mass Spectrometers
Out of the latest fiber-optic Technology, we introduce this unique Glass FRIT for Mass Spectrometers. These FRITS are precision high flow rate filters constructed of microscopic glass capillaries, bound and fused together to form a uniform and mechanically rigid matrix. The 25 micron diameter pores offer true sieve-like filtration with a positive particle size cutoff and are strong, self-supporting devices with a high degree of thermal and chemical stability. They can withstand temperatures in excess of 450 degrees C in most applications. The FRlTS are constructed of soda lime glass as the basic standard matrix due to its mechanical and chemical stability and are manufactured to give an open area of 50% or greater as compared to the total surface area. These FRlTS have been designed for use in Jet Separator ovens. They enable the straight passage of the gaseous samples through the small capillaries, but prevent the solid particles such as column packing from passing. This is the type of FRIT used by several Mass Spec manufacturers to eliminate clogged jets and to prevent solid particles from entering the mass spec source. Each FRlT disc is ¼" in diameter by 5/64" thick. They can be placed inside a ¼" drilled out Swagelok union allowing the jet stem to be butted up against it. We recommend the use of FRlTS on both ends of the jet separator to eliminate clogging.
Other sizes of fittings are available on request. Give us a call if you require a size not listed.
