Finnigan MAT Vacuum Flange Repairs
A variety of repairs and modifications can be performed on Finnigan MAT mass spectrometer flanges. The repair shops of S.I.S. have a wide range of equipment, described in the front of this catalog, which enable us to perform custom machining, welding, and leak checking of mass spectrometer parts. Our services for vacuum flanges include replacing broken, damaged, or leaking electrical feed-thrus, adding additional feedthrus, gas lines, or fittings to flanges, repairing damaged knife edges, and other custom modifications and additions. We also have the capabilities to custom manufacture flanges to your specifications. For repairs, modifications, or manufacture of flanges not listed below, send us a description of your requirements along with a sketch for a quotation. See the beginning of this catalog for additional information on our shop manufacturing and repair facilities. Vacuum Leak Cleaning  Ceramic-to-metal vacuum feedthrus are commonly damaged, broken, or develop leaks due to their fragile nature. S.I.S. can repair these flanges by replacing the feedthrus, at a cost much less than purchasing a new flange. The repair includes drilling out the old feedthru, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding a new feedthru in place, and helium leak testing the feedthru for good vacuum sealing. Most feedthrus with single terminal electrical connections can be replaced. The feedthrus shown on the right are currently in stock at S.I.S. to replace your existing feedthrus in a fast turn-around time. Normal repair time is one to two days, but on many occasions we have received a damaged flange by Federal Express in the morning, repaired it, and shipped it back out the same day. Other sizes and styles of feedthrus are obtainable, but delivery time can vary depending on their availability. Prices for the replacement (or addition) of feedthrus to flanges is based on a charge of $120.00 per feedthru, plus the cost of the feedthru. For example, to replace (or add) feedthru A on the right to a flange, the total cost would be $170.00 (repair part #REP211 ). The charge of $120.00 covers the cost of drilling out the old feedthru, TIG welding a new feedthru in its place, and then helium leak testing the flange (which will include all feedthrus), to assure there are no vacuum leaks on the flange. Vacuum leak checking service only is also available from S.I.S. If you are not sure if your flange is leaking, we can test your flanges utilizing the helium leak testing equipment in our facilities. The charge for this service is $50.00 per flange, regardless of the number of feedthrus. If a leak is present, we can pinpoint the location of the problem. If the replacement of a feedthru is performed subsequently, this testing charge is waived, since it is considered to be included in the replacement feedthru charge. This one connector welable adapter is used to repair the flanges on Finnigan mass
spectrometers. The vacuum side connection is a 0.092" diameter pin and
opposite side connection is a BNC quarter turn quick connect fitting. Connector
plug is included with feedthru.
Similar to the feedthru above, except larger. Used on some of the Finnigan mass spectrometers.
This feedthru can be welded to a vacuum flange to permit the connection of 10
electrical wires into the vacuum system. This feedthru is used on some of the Finnigan mass spectrometers.
